 · Only Hugh Johnson could write a serious (and seriously long) book totally focused on two subjects best served up to nerds and geeks – history and wine – and yet somehow manage to create a merrymaking romp of a book. He writes with sheer pleasure. You can almost feel him smiling as the words roll out in front of you. It’s not a history book I was in tears and had to put the book down several times. I adopted a 10 year old out of the foster care system and this book made me want to adopt 7 more! The reason I put 17+ is because if a child is thinking about choosing Social Work as a career these are the things they will be dealing with. Other that that I think this is an adult book  · Memoir is autobiographical writing, but not all autobiographical writing follows the criteria for memoir. Memoirs are structured differently from formal autobiographies which tend to encompass the writer's entire life span, focusing on the development of his/her personality
